Department of 20th Century Literature, Literary Theory, and the Art of Translation is the successor of the former Department of Literary Theory, founded in 1960s and until 1990 led by Professor Jerzy Ziomek (1924-1990), and then, until 2007, by Professor Edward Balcerzan. The present Head of Department is Professor Ewa Kraskowska. The long and somewhat complicated name of the Department mirrors the wide range and main fields of our interest. Apart from the research we conduct courses in the above areas, graduate and postgraduate seminars, as well as a special module (330 hrs) for postgraduate students interested in literary translation.
